I have a potential new customer aiming at Ricoh but unfortunately he needs to change adresses/users a lot in his business so the question comes up if it's possible to "sort" the adresses in alphabetical order. TBH my knowledge of this was a decade old and I recall that there was no idiot proof solution for this demand. I tried to investigate what is possible in 2022 and it seems Ricoh did not make any progress, either with "on board" tools via WIM/Panel nor with seperate software.
Smart Device Monitor is discontinued since ages and that Device Manager NX Lite also appears like crap, nothing intuitive and poor documentation.
This is one of the reasons I've kept a copy of SmartDevice Monitor for Admin around. It's still a great tool for centrally managing address books without the limitations of the web interface.

A number of their older utilities were much more user friendly than their NX replacements.

Tell me about it, Tim!
The print driver packager NX is another good example of that!
All I ever really needed the previous version for was to create a customer driver that would produce the pop-up dialog box to enter a user code, and of course I would also typically set a couple of defaults like B&W and single-sided.
Thankfully I only have a couple of (small) customers that require it.
I've NEVER been able to figure out (what should be a very simple process) to do that in the new version, and I've found that it seems machines from the Cxx04 series onward aren't compatible with the older software, so for the couple of instances I've needed it, I've just used my previous custom drivers from the Cxx03, etc.
I know I'm way off topic here, but Tim's comment about the NX software got me thinking about it, so if anyone has some simplified instructions or advice on that software, I'd be grateful!

Yeah I have a copy, too - but even with this tool you can't easily sort by name "column" for example. At least you can export a CSV and go from there but that's not really something end user friendly. Unfortunately I was leaning myself a bit too far out of the windows and indicated software solutions while thinking about NX software (I never worked with....) - guess that was too optimistic.
Anyone knows if the modern (and/or classic) scanner application does sort properly within the "abc/def/...." indexes? Let me guess: nope^^
You can download Smart Device Monitor for Admin 8.1.9.0 from Softpedia: Download SmartDeviceMonitor for Admin 8.1.9.0 (I can not garantee it's virus-free).
I found it also on an old Ricoh Printer Driver CD. But I can't remember from which model the CD was. The software works fine with Windows 10/64 Bit.
I have never had a problem with Ricoh software from Softpedia. They have always passed virus checking. I have even check the files against the originals from Ricoh CDs and they have been the same name, version, file size and identical according to Microsoft's "File Compare" utility.

Sorry but the Softpedia link that terramobil is a newer version and shows as Win7 as an OS compatible. Should also be compatible with Win10, Win8 and Win8.1. Might not work with Win11 as Win11 does not support a number of Win7 software.
