I have been out of the game for a while used to be a certified ricoh tech. I have a friend with an older spc820 model printer that was converted by xante. The problem I have is we are getting a paper wrinkle on the trail edge. What I have done so far is replace both tray 1 and 2 feed units whole unit, replaced registration roller and mylar, replaced the idle roller belts on the door side that are across from the feed units, and we still have a wrinkle.
I have eliminated the fuser, i can stop the machine with the paper half below the fuser just as the trail came out of registration and the crease is already there, there is also no print inside the crease which means it wrinkled before it crossed over the xfer belt / ptr. But also if I stop it with the paper half through the registration the trail is not creased coming out of the feed unit. So the problem has to starting sometime as the paper lead goes out of the registration passed the PTR/separation area but I can not find any reason behind it.
This happens on 20#, 24% short edge feed, long edge feed other paper brands or types so its a paper problem, the trays guides are all in place, and it does no matter if you feed from tray 1 or 2 or the bypass all of them wrinkle so its not a tray issue.
My only thoughts are a paper buckle issue as the lead edge hits the fuser while the trail is still somewhat in the registration area with the timing between the rollers, maybe the PTR housing unit, I've checked the mylars, the tines on the PTR separation and nothing is catching paper that i can see. Anyone have any thoughts?
Also the part I cant seem t find in the manual is the green hook that screws onto the PTR housing unit that hooks and holds the PTR from flopping forward and falling out, the hook broke on me and I have the PTR held back with a macgyver move.
Paper buckle occurs before the registration roller intended to correct feed skew. It could be the registration roller starting to flare at the ends or the same for the PTR. May also be a cracked PTR housing.

In addition to what has already been suggested, I would check for any toner crusts on the fuser inlet guide (but since you are a former Ricoh technician you will have already checked) + any deformation caused by heat on the guide itself, and/or the plastic structure of the fuser.
Ricoh had a problem with the plastic case for that PTR breaking. One of the signs that it is broken or has been improperly rebuilt is that the green hook either breaks or does not hold properly. There was a bulletin out on the problem and a modification kit for rebuilding. They may still be available from Ricoh. If not Precision Roller has a rebuild kit,

Thanks for the suggestions, the PTR was my next thought the housing on this one was macgyver'd some due to that issue, I saw some twist ties in there from paid service techs that worked on it before me, I may just rebuilt that if any to at least eliminate it as a culprit.
