Hi Guys, Customer dropped off this Xerox C500 color printer at my shop. He sent me prints of the problem, magenta has a 1/2" void down through the center of the page.
I like to do prints before I tear the machine apart & clean it, that way I can't be blamed for something I didn't do.
When I turned it on, it says " REORDER YELLOW TONER (Y)... My problem is, after he left I wanted to print a few pages from the internal menu & it beeps & it comes up on the display and says "Guest User... system status Completed (error): 0 sheets completed.
So I thought I would connect it to my PC & when I send a print job, it beeps one time & the display doesn't say anything just that yellow toner needs replaced. Is there a way for me to print an internal report even while it is saying to replace yellow toner?
Basically, is the yellow toner the whole reason why I can't do an internal print or a print from my PC? I even tried to print from USB, and same beep & says 0 sheets completed.

If there is toner out, it will dead stop. No print. Internal or from a PC.
Your void is quite possibly toner on the ROS lens.

This has LED's, no mirrors or lens... I'm thinking it probably has a bad LED for magenta... But I can't do anything until the customer brings me toner, I even asked him when he dropped it off, if there was plenty of toner in it, he said yes, and out the door he went. New customer too... so I'm not spending any money on this call until I hear from him... I've been ghosted since he dropped it off. sent 2 emails & a social media message. I'm leaning towards he might have known & didn't want to spend more money.

Yep, I was thinking Phaser engine. Sorry about that. But yeah, bad LED is a real possibility. I've only had one customer willing to throw money at a C500, so you may well be correct about your guy bailing on you.

CALLING ALL XEROX GURUS!
I am still not able to print a full image even after installing new Yellow toner cartridge, YES, it is XEROX toner, not aftermarket. I removed all drum units, transfer belt assy. & gave the machine a good cleaning & reinstalled all parts... still same initial issue with a void in the Magenta area... If I do a color print, it also shows the void.
I'll add a pic of what I believe is the LED for the magenta .. what do you guys think?
Question... Can you swap the LED's around in this printer, I'm curious if I could do that it should follow the LED, or are they specific for each color? I'm not even sure I want to go any further if it is an LED issue.

No I didn't try, because it's such a blatant sharp void line, that it wouldn't make sense to be the drum unit. If it was a fading void mite be drum or a part of the DU failing.

Customer has opted not to repair & says he will pay me for my time & pick it up on Monday... I guess we will see if that happens or if I'm throwing it in the dumpster.
