Hello, anyone have any idea how to get firmware for these models?
The support vendor we use say that they are certified Copystar.
But they stated they are in a "gray area for Kyocera", whatever that means, and have no idea how to get the FW.
Searching for Copystar, they are part of Kyocera as of June of '23.
The Kyocera EWS doesn't have any FW update option; the Kyocera website doesn't show any FW update files or software to accomplish it.
Web searches yield no results.
Therefore, I assume it's for Kyocera dealers only?
Any help or suggestions is GREATLY appreciated...
best regards, brent
Thank you so much for the replies. I went back to see if I could find some more information - ALMOST pulled my hair out!
I went back to Kyoceradocumentsolutions Global and Americas and the FW update package isn't shown!
I swapped back to a different SSD, looked at the browser history. The files are at kyoceradocumentsolutions.eu/en.
So, are the files safe using from the EU, or am I opening up a can of worms?
If the files are ok, what isn't explained is - what brand of drive works best/what size of a drive/what format (FAT, FAT32, NTFS, ....etc).
I assume just the appropriate FWP file alone on the root folder at power on.

best regards,
Yes that firmware will be fine. You can use pretty much any USB pen drive, nothing too large, 8GB formatted to FAT32.
As you say copy the files to the root of the pen & power on, should only take a couple of minutes.

Thanks copier tech, but I don't think using that Firmware was a good idea.
To make a long story short, a p6230 with an unknown , intermittent issue and error codes with no explanation.
I used the Firmware update tool in Windows, pointed to the file, put in the IP address, it rebooted and showed FW update on the panel. After some time, the Windows update tool said Success.
The panel now has "Call Service 2111.0011101" and doesn't print.
Our vendor (copystar) has no idea where to even start to correct this code, which he says isn't specific to a part and I probably shouldn't have used this firmware. So where now other than a big dumpster!
Much appreciated
Brent

We hear this a lot. The tool says complete but the printer is still in the process of updating, which if you power off during this time can corrupt the main board.
You maybe lucky updating the safe way via USB pen drive.

Well that is shocking! Not only is their hardware Krap, but their software is apparently even worse.. I was sitting behind it, let the FW update tool do it's thing, never touched the button or power cord. After the success response, I'm stuck with this error. Trying the Windows tool again it shows "already has a newer version installed". So, I wrote the .fwp file to the root of a 4G fat32 drive, tried the front and rear USB ports, powering it on, the USB is lit, but doesn't seem to do anything.
Our Copystar vendor is owned by Kyocera, but they are in some sort of "grey area" however that works. So I'm thinking that they aren't too experienced or like this model either.
Are you a Kyocera authorized service provider?
Wonder why the .eu/en site has the Firmware but US site doesn't.
Honestly, it's like moving from IOS to Android on a phone, they may seem similar, but WOW they are truely a different ecosystem.
I'm a certified HP tech, took a lot of xerox courses, but man is Krapocera a total pain!
I'll work on a xerox crayon melter over these. ?
No such thing as a partial clean or format to start over with the firmware like HP. . Argh
Maybe I'll post in the p6230 thread about the two odd issues it had.
Much obliged for the response. Be Well, Brent

We can supply you with the files to use to update the firmware via USB.
With this method you can overwrite existing firmware even if it is the same version.

Thank you kindly, but I'm not paying for something that Krapocera should provide in the USA.
Kyocera .eu/en provides them and It was suggested that that firmware will be fine.
I'm thinking that the only mistake I made was the drive should have only had the one file on it, rather than mixed with other folders, a few .exe a .cab and an .mp3.
The machine may be to stupid to find the only .fwp file on the drive......
thank you for the offer.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
Brent
